Whoopsie.
It's been over a month since my last Skeeterbook post. Mostly
because I haven't wanted to say much about the recent geopolitical
nonsense. Except for this part: what a shit show.
So what have
I been up to? Other than just living our lives, I recently took
some time to work on some pixel art. I haed posted a few teasers
to Facebook (against my better judgement) and OF COURSE people
wanted to know why I was digitally doodling American urbanscapes
instead of European. The answer is simple... with the massive
influx of new data, the old stuff is coming to the surface and
is flushing out. So I wanted to capture what was coming to me
before I lose it. I mean, people who know me know I have a deep
history with sketching urban landscapes, and this is about as
awesome as its going to get. So here is something loosely based
on New Britain, 1972. There's much more in the hopper. These are
just a few select details. Cheers.

So now that
we're settling into new routines, I've had time to look at my
phone and have just been aghast at the flood of everyone's reactions
in the states as to the current, "situation." We were
out on Saturday evening and was speaking with a new friend of
ours, and was trying to explain to her how people were doing "back
home." Detecting in my voice a sense of survivor's guilt,
she gave me the best piece of advice anyone could give me, "You're
starting a new life now."
I've never
made any secrets about my dislike of Facebook, and that's been
my primary go-to for social media pretty much since its inception.
I am not alone in the sentiment that it just isn't fun any more.
I mean, it hasn't been for at least the last 8 years. I didn't
need the recent election results to not enjoy myself on that platform.
But enough is enough. It's not my community any more. So now is
the time for me to pull back for my own physical and mental health.
I'll use FB for the occasional love letter from Ireland. I won't
use it to discuss how I feel about things. I'll be over here on
Neocities and perhaps Mastodon, blogging and getting used to this
new place. My email is on my "about" page if you want
to reach out. Cheers.
[Note: there
is an RSS button at the bottom if you want to subscribe. Apologies
for some of the dead menu links... I'll get to those soon.]

We survived the recent wind storm and life is returning to normal in Kilkenny. Matt ventured out today for a stroll at the castle grounds. He had a lovely time, only to be drenched by a sudden downpour on the way home. I mean, it IS Ireland after all, right?
Photo taken before the rain, obviously LOL

I've decided
to make my own asocial media platform. By "asocial",
I mean that nobody can comment on anything, nobody can "like"
anything, and nobody can start arguments with me. It's the perfect
one-way communication format about what's going on with us. It's
everything I love about the book of faces without all the damn
drama!
