Voltron
I: Storyline
The Galaxy Alliance is facing
overcrowding, as such, space explorers are sent to find new, livable
worlds to colonize. With Earth as the seat of Galaxy Garrison, the
stellar ship Explorer is sent out to the stars, with Voltron as their
defender.
Meanwhile, the Drule Empire
is also on a similar mission to find a new planet as their home world
is facing extinction due to a transient sun. From the beginning of
the series, the Drules and he Garrison forces have already had combat
with each other, though neither side fully understands the motives
of the other.
Across many episodes, we
see the Land, Sea, and Air units of Voltron as exploratory teams in
the alliance's quest for new planets, though they can combine at a
moment's notice to form Voltron to defend the Explorer from Drule
attack. As the series progresses, we see a battle of wits and politics
as both sides try to negotiate peace as fighting rages on. At one
point in the series, Earth itself is attacked by the Drules.
The series ends in dramatic
fashion. We learn that the Drule homeworld is on the brink of destruction.
The Explorer eventually make their way to the planet. Infighting on
Drule has led to a split between Hazaar and Emperor Zeppo. The Voltron
Force aid Hazaar in helping the people of Drule escape to a new world,
while Zeppo escapes to the planet Deeva with aspirations to rebuild.
