Voltron
II: Storyline
There is enough information
out there on the web to exlain the general story line of Albegas as
it existed in Japan and other parts of the world, but it could be
easily summarized as: Dellinger invade Earth, Albegas defeats Dellinger
(also refered to as "Derinja" or "Gerinya"). But
how would this have translated over to Voltron II?
Nobody knows, except maybe
Marc Handler.
For integrate the series,
writers would have needed to woven in some footage from Albegas into
Voltron I in the final episodes of the series, to foreshadow what
was to come. They did this with a fair amount of success with Dairugger
footage late in in Lion series. And in the actual Voltron II series,
they probably would have removed any visual reference to Earth itself,
since the story takes place on Earth in Albegas. In Voltron II, this
would have been somewhere in "the Middle Universe".
Similar to Pidge and Chip,
there probably would have been some relationship between one of the
Voltron II pilots and someone else in the Voltron universe. Who they
would have picked is up for debate, but I'm sure we would have seen
an appearance from either Daisaku, Hotaru, or Tetsuya in Vehicle Voltron.
In my own mind, I predicted it would have been Hotaru as a niece of
Ginger in Vehicle Voltron. Imagine the look on my face when Larmina
from Voltron Force was described as Allura's niece. It should come
as no surprise that I figured the English name for Daisaku would have
been Daniel so I'll just stop there.
There was one other major
plot tie in that I always thought was obvious but I'm going to mention
it anyway because I don't see anyone else talking about it. In Vehicle
Voltron, Dr. Loring is described as the creator of the Defender of
the Near Universe, but that he took the secrets to his grave. My impression
is that Loring would have worked closely with King Alfor to create
Vehicle Voltron, but when Zarkon took Alfor's life, Loring was basically
whisked away into Galaxy Garrison's version of witness protection.
He was declared, "dead" but was probably put into hiding
on an outpost in the Middle Universe. "Until Voltron was needed
once more." Enter the character known in Japan as Professor Mizuki.
In my mind, THAT'S DR. LORING.
Okay, I've said too much.
I'm calling this an outline for my own fan fiction and throwing a
copyright on it right now!!
