Ode to the Inauguration: Mean People Suck

Hartford, Jacksonville
Friday, January 20, 2017

After a jarring day of pomp, protests, and "Revolutionary Wear", Troop Groop offered up their own form of resistance with a rush-to-release single entitled "Mean People Suck". In a Facebook post made on Inauguration Day, the band described the track as an early demo, which is "a ways off from being complete." On the band's SoundCloud page, they note further that it is a raw track, with all blemishes left in place.

"We felt it important that we post the early version of the song, on Inauguration Day, to let people know how we feel about the situation. We really needed to channel our feelings into our own form of art that we think most reasonable people can relate to," said Dave, following the release of the track. Jay added, "Its unedited; its unredacted. This is GOLD!"

The song is performed as spoken-word, harkening back to the early days of the band which made them famous with songs like "Kermit The Fribble". The artwork features an obscured image of top presidential advisor, KellyAnne Conway. Although she is not specifically mentioned in the song, she is rumored to be described by the band as, "a hack."

In less than 24 hours of the song being posted, "Mean People Suck" has quickly risen to become the band's third most popular track on SoundCloud, coming in behind "Nuclear Betty Ford" and "I'll Light A Match To You (TMC Remix). The band intends to release a more polished version of the song in the near future. The White House could not be reached for comment.

Inauguration Requests Troop Groop; Band Declines

Hartford, Jacksonville
Wednesday, January 18, 2017

After the likes of Lady Gaga, Elton John, and Bruce Springsteen have "just said no" to the Cheeto-in-Chief, the Inauguration Entertainment Committee allegedly contacted the managing company for Troop Groop today, in a last ditch effort to hook even a D-list act for the Washington DC gala which has left hotels canceling room blocks and dresses flying to the clearance rack faster than you can say, "Celine Dione has come out of retirement - AGAIN".

Talent booker Suzanne Bender allegedly offered cash and ambassadorships to Dave Bielski, synthesist, and Jay Carucci, cocktail mixer. "Bangladesh was not on my bucket list," said Dave today, at about quarter past three. "I mean really, do these people not know who we are? Even Kathy Griffen can't find us on the D-List, but this is not the lucky break we were looking for. Sorry, 'The Donald', we forcibly decline." Jay had this to add, "Our music is far too cerebral and creative for that crowd, but I hear half of Milli Vanilli is still available."

Communications Director for the Inauguration Committee, Borris Epshteyn, gave a terse reply to this now-legendary exchange. "There is no truth to this insinuation."

Troop Groop are currently in studio, working on their next release, whose title has been heavily guarded.

Troop Groop Releases "Drama Queen"

Hartford, Jacksonville
Saturday, May 21, 2016

Hot on the heels of their successful single, "Nuclear Betty Ford", popkraft duo Troop Groop has released their funky follow-up entitled "Drama Queen". "It's hot, it's hard, it belongs on a stage!" said keyboardist Dave in an artfully crafted statement. "It kicks ass!" said jay, elaborating slightly further. The track was recorded in Jacksonville and Kitchen Studios Northeast over the internet, adding to the continental flair of the song. A video, allegedly shot in both locations, is rumored to be in the works.

Troop Groop Introduces "Nuclear Betty Ford"!

Hartford, Jacksonville
Friday, September 17, 2015

After a 25 year resting period, Troop Groop arises once more. Today the band is pleased to bring you their new single, "Nuclear Betty Ford", available for your sonic pleasure at their new Soundcloud site. This song, though decidedly simple in nature, is the end result of many months of work that took place from opposite ends of the Eastern Seaboard, and is hopefully the first of many more to come. Originally known for their experimental, low-tech, and comedic songs from the late 1980's, Troop Groop has developed their sound further, while still keeping their approach fresh and fun.

"One the original contending names for our band was actually Nuclear Betty Ford," explains Dave. "Some time ago, when we decided to reunite, we both went to this idea straight away. We both felt that Betty Ford has been underrated as a leader and a role model, and we want to help make her into a gay icon. She is the ultimate strong woman. The song itself is also a sendup to our favorite 80's classics that were simple, danceable, and fun. Our band has always been about fun. In a sense, "Nuclear Betty Ford" picks up where we left off so long ago. We have come a long way, and have so much further to go. We hope everyone enjoys it."

Jay adds his personal comments. "This song represents an evolution in who we are. As we have aged gracefully, so have our skills and ability. Our music has always been experimental and experiential. Our progress has always been organic, where we learned to use what's around us. While we have chosen to have Betty Ford be somewhat comedic, it's really an homage to her as an advocate for equal rights and women's reproductive rights. She has not received the recognition she deserves as a pioneer. Most often people associate her with her treatment center, but she has done so much more for equality, and it's time someone told her story in music. She has become my personal idol."

To commemorate the relaunch of Troop Groop, plans are in the works to release "Nuclear Betty Ford" as a 7" picture disc. Please follow us on Facebook and drop us a note if you are interested in purchasing one. The run will be extremely limited, and will be sold at-cost.

In the meantime, please enjoy the song here:

Troop Groop World Recording Tour 2015

1/17/15 St. Augustine, FL. True to form, Troop Groop have launched a worldwide tour, but not one filled with concerts, scwag, and screaming fans. And they've launched said tour well in advance of completing any record. This is by design. Troop Groop, otherwise known as Jay and Dave, met up in Florida to add tracks to their upcoming release, "Nuclear Betty Ford." After spending late nights, jamming and recording, they took to the streets of St. Augustine, where they hunted down and slayed the fashion world with the purchase of their fancy-schmancy stage costumes. A few short weeks later, the tour continued to Provincetown, MA, where more cash was laid out in the name of art and textiles. Troop Groop continued their recording well into the summer through the magic of the internet, thus declaring Kitchen Studios to encompass the entire continent. More to come - stay tuned!

New Single Artwork

True to form, Troop Groop have released a sneak peek of the artwork to grace the cover of their forthcoming single, "Nuclear Betty Ford", well before the release date of the single is is to be announced, and well before the single has been recorded for that matter. "It's important that our fans know we're busy at work on our new material, so here's a teaser," said founding member David Bielski. Founding member Jayme Carucci concurred with a mere shake of his head. No release date of "Nuclear Betty Ford" has been announced. Click on the image below for a larger version.

Troop Groop Announcement

1/1/07 Ashford, CT. David Bielski and Jayme Carucci, the original members of Troop Groop, announced this week in a press release, that they intend to reunite after nearly a decade away from the public spotlight as pop stars. "We must be nuts! We don't have time for this!!" said Carucci, currently married with two children and holding down four or more jobs in the education and healing arts communities."I agree, this is completely absurd" conceded Bielski. "I'm running a social club and a Scout group... when they perfect cloning, we'll get this next album finished!" In spite of insurmountable odds, both of them agreed the time was right for them to come out of retirement. "Our fans want to see this lineup return... we have no idea what it's going to sound like, but it had better sound better than Udder Chaos." For those of you not in the loop, Troop Groop started as a spinoff group from the band "Chaos" in 1986. Chaos, meanwhile was never heard from again.. at least until 2002, when Chris King agreed to reform the group with yet another lifeless lineup as "Udder Chaos". When they were refused a gig in a janitor's closet in some back bar in New Jersey, Udder Chaos folded immediately, admitting they had milked their career for all it was worth. Troop Groop plan to introduce a new album in the fall of 2007.
